Pg.10." The blooming pear tree had called her to gaze on a mystery. What? How? Why? A voice in vision had a personal answer for other living creatures except herself "
Janie and the pear had a lot in common. Both were unanswered questions that she wondered about. Janie did not know where the voices would lead her to. They both were beautiful and blooming with a mystery of why. As she followed voices and pondered on mysteries she continued to ask questions, What, How, and Why?. She was unable to find an answer.
Pg.12"The thought of marrying was too new and heavy for Janie she fought it away."
Janie was not ready to marry anyone because she didn't think she was ready. She never thought marrying so young; that had never came across or through her mind. When her grandmother told her she had to marry she asked her to wait because it was to much for her to handle an take. Janie told her Nanny she would never kiss Johnny Taylor again if that were the reason she had to marry. She tried her best to convince Nanny but it did no help.
